Custom Connector Setup

Now that the Example Connector code is published we can install the Example connector to use with Athena:
  • Click on ExampleAthenaConnector application under the Private applications from Serverless Application Repository.
  • Follow the instructions listed below to enter the Application Settings:

  • Application Name: Leave it as default name - ExampleAthenaConnector.
  • AthenaCatalogName: The name for your catalog/lambda function in Athena. Enter example as the function name. Be sure to use a LOWER_CASE name for your catalog/lambda function. We will use this same function name when running the queries against the connector.
  • DataBucket: Put S3Bucket value from the cloudformation outputs here
  • SpillBucket: Put S3Bucket value from the cloudformation outputs here
  • DisableSpillEncryption: leave it as default value of false
  • LambdaMemory: leave it as default value of 3008
  • LambdaTimeout: leave it as default value of 900
  • SpillPrefix: Put athena-spill-example

  • It should look like this: Click Deploy to deploy the connector.
  • Move to the next chapter once the Example Connector is deployed successfully. It should look like this:
